The combination of copper, manganese, aluminum and iron results in bronze C86300, an alloy with properties that make it appropriate for different applications. Companies in the metal mechanic, electrical and naval sectors, among others, successfully use copper C86300 in their production lines all over the world.

Bronze C86300 (ASTM Standard) corresponds to SAE 430-B (SAE Standard). It is an alloy widely used by Mercobronze in the manufacturing of many types of parts, such as billets and bushings, and materials, such as shafts and crowns.

Mercobronze is known in the market for the quality of its products and commitment to meeting delivery deadlines from the production to final delivery to customers, in addition to courteous and professional customer service.

Bronze C86300 general characteristics

The general characteristics of bronze C86300 derive from its formula whose elements are:

  • Cu = 60% – 66%
  • Zn = 22% – 28%
  • Al = 5% – 7,5%
  • Mn = 2,5% – 5%
  • Fe = 2% – 4%
  • Ni = 1% max
  • Pb = 0,2% max
  • Sn = 0,2% max

Although aluminum and manganese appear in small concentrations, they have an important influence on the general characteristics of bronze C86300:

  • Aluminum increases the alloy’s hardness and toughness, as well as resistance to seawater corrosion. It also decreases atmospheric oxidation and reduces reactivity to sulfur compounds.
  • Manganese reduces chemical reactivity and increases mechanical strength.

Bronze C86300 general characteristics

  • Good ductility
  • Non-magnetic property
  • Excellent resistance to the corrosive action of seawater, sewage, industrial atmospheres and other corrosive agents.
  • Above average wear resistance
  • High mechanical strength
