Bronze bushing

Mercobronze produces bronze bushing using Continuous Casting and Centrifugal Casting processes.

In addition to the high quality of the final product and strict adherence to the intended standards in the composition of each alloy, the company designed its manufacturing facilities to produce bronze bushing a large scale, as well as all types of special bushing, on an order basis.

Bronze bushing commercialization

Mercobronze supplies customers across our country with the commercialization of self-manufactured bronze bushing. It does not matter in which state or municipality your business is located – our company is always prepared to meet your needs quickly and on time.

Mercobronze bronze bushing is used by industries in the most different sectors, such as metal mechanic, automotive, mining, agriculture and energy. Our tradition of quality and reliability in the composition of the ordered alloy is what identifies and differentiates Mercobronze bronze bushings.

The quality of Mercobronze bronze bushings is certified by ISO 9001 standards and the market safety of our products is mainly due to the two efficient production methods used by our company: continuous casting and centrifugation.

Continuous Casting – In this technique, the bronze bushing is cast in a single operation and on a large scale, maintaining high quality and a uniform pattern. The method is also responsible for reducing the cost of production if compared with usual manufacturing criteria.

Centrifugal Casting – This technique is appropriate for making bushings from 120mm, which are impossible to cast using the continuous method. In it the molten bronze is poured into metal molds, which is shaped by means of centrifugal force. Centrifuged bushings have a high-quality category due to the compaction of the grain by the centrifugal force.

The manufacture and commercialization of bronze bushing, carried out by Mercobronze for decades, is one of the factors responsible for the prestige enjoyed by our company in the market which classifies it as the most reliable producer of bronze bushings in our country.

Bronze bushing characteristics

The bronze bushing is a cylindrical and hollow component that has two important mechanical functions:

  • 1. To support rotating axles
  • 2. To minimize frictional forces generated by movement, acting as a sliding element

In both cases, slow, continuous wear occurs on the inside of the bronze bushing (which is why bushings are called wear parts). It is a material designed to wear out, preserving and protecting more sophisticated and expensive components of the main equipment, to which they are coupled.

Also treated as “sacrifice surfaces”, bushings are made to last a certain time and must be replaced at the end of their service life.

Bronze bushings of different types and applications have some characteristics in common, such as:

  • 1. To have sliding properties reinforced by two types of lubrication: self-lubrication (dry lubrication) or fluid lubrication.
  • 2. To present a high level of mechanical strength and wear resistance, depending on the alloy used.
  • 3. To be a good conductor of heat (an important factor since friction generates thermal energy, which produces heat to be dissipated).

Bronze Bushing Applications

There are several applications for bronze bushings but, in general, they are used in critical mechanical situations, such as machines and equipment that operate at high levels of speed, load, impact, friction, vibration and high temperature, for example.

Among the multiple equipment that use bronze bushings, there are:

  • Tractors (sustaining the main shaft of the exchange system)
  • Stone and concrete crushing machines (jackhammers and jaw crushers)
  • Hydraulic and gas turbines (part of sliding shoes)
  • Earthmoving machinery (excavators, bulldozers and motor graders)
  • Centrifugal, pneumatic and piston industrial pumps
  • Refrigerating equipment (as part of gears and peeling rollers)
  • Rolling and milling trains (composing the sliding bearing structure)
  • Bearings in general (subject to high pressure and speed)
